Dr Ravi Gopal Varma

Dr Ravi Gopal Varma is a neurosurgeon based in Bangalore. Son of illustrious neurosurgeon, Dr R M Varma, Founder Director of NIMHANS, neurosurgery has always been a passion. After completing his MS in General surgery, he went on to do his MCh in Neurosurgery from Sree Chitira Thirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum, an institute of national importance.
His interest in the developing frontiers of neurosurgery led him to a Fellowship in Stereotactic and Functional Nurosurgery, from the University of Western Ontario, Canada. Fired by his wish to be able to make this sort of treatment available in India, he returned to Bangalore. At present, Dr Varma works as Professor and Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at M S Ramaiah Medical College and Teaching Hospitals, Bangalore. Here he has set up a fully functional, state of the art Functional Neurosurgery unit where DBS surgery for Parkinsonism, epilepsy and other movement disorders are handled, at affordable rates.
Dr Ravi Gopal Varma, is now working on setting up a one of its kind Neurosciences Institute, which will handle every conceivable aspect regarding clinical and research aspects of the human brain.
